The historic journey of the first Bangladeshi to compete in an FIA-sanctioned race.
In a landmark moment for Bangladeshi motorsports, Arhaam Rahaman made history at the 2022 FIA Motorsport Games in Marseille, France, becoming the first-ever driver to represent Bangladesh in an FIA-sanctioned event.
A Historic Start for Bangladesh
Arhaam Rahaman etched his name in the history books as the first Bangladeshi to participate in an FIA-sanctioned race. Competing in the Esports category at the 2022 FIA Motorsport Games, Arhaam stood out on the global stage. Remarkably, in the motorsports world cup of 2022, he was the only other single participant alongside Japanese sim racer Sota Muto.
With a strong background in F1 league racing at the Oceania Sim Racing League, Arhaam saw a unique opportunity to try out Assetto Corsa Competizione in the GT3 class. Though GT3 was a completely new class for him, his ultimate goal was to proudly represent Bangladesh.
The Journey to Marseille
Determined to make his dream a reality, Arhaam got in touch with the Automobile Association of Bangladesh. Through their support and a crucial sponsorship from the prominent Bangladeshi group of companies, Beximco, Arhaam made it to Marseille, France. This collaboration marked a historic start for Bangladesh in FIA races, paving the way for future generations of sim racers and motorsport enthusiasts in the country.
Roots in Open-Wheel Racing and Future Plans
While he competed in GT3 esports, Arhaam's true passion lies with open-wheel racing and karting, which is exactly how he first got into motorsports. Looking ahead, his ambitions continue to grow. Arhaam's plan for 2023 is to make the leap to real-world track racing and represent Bangladesh in Formula 4 in Europe, a challenge he is eagerly looking forward to.
